About me

hi, i'm wilbur. i'm a person™ on the internet who loves infrastructure, especially content delivery / mirroring, networking, transit and electrical grids. i think that infra is really cool, except when it destroys the environment, but i also enjoy many other things. as much as i program sometimes, i tend to prefer setting up and maintaining services, monitoring dashboards, and exploring the inner workings of the internet. i am proudly connected via AS212683. i also keep getting rate limited on bgp.tools but thats beside the point.

feel free to have a look around this site to explore from the downright stupid to the actually kinda cool. be aware that a lot of this site is pretty old and hasnt been touched for a couple of years so some of it may just be really bad. i've tried to fix anything that was really broken (as long as it's mine, anyway...)

i am autistic, aromantic, asexual, and agender (they/them). i tend to connect best with people who are also neurodivergent and/or queer, but i am always happy to meet new people regardless of their identity, if you're cool idrc. i tend to work best on my own but that doesnt mean i dont like talking to people, i just get easily overwhelmed and need a lot of downtime.

i am staff at the aqa's basement discord server and i am (kinda) staff at the chaotic linux user group. i was formerly staff at all things linux, before that collapsed. during my time there i worked on the iso archive project, which is gradually in the process of being uploaded to archive.org, and i ran some self-hosted services, some of which i'm rehosting under the c48.uk domain. i hold alumni role in neon genesis linux and backup role in foss.wiki, you may see me in either place from time to time (although i prefer to keep to staff channels).

About this site

this website is hosted on melina.srv.c48.uk, managed on codeberg, and built with astro. many assets are served through assets.c48.uk which has amber and oswald as backends and uses cloudfront (the free tier has 1TB of bandwidth so i just use that). no page on the site should be bigger than 1MB excluding video and audio.
i use the fonts lexend and sometype mono for my sans-serif and monospace fonts respectively, and the few icons on this site are from fontawesome.

some parts of the site (notably a large part of HTML2) were not made by me, rather by some of my friends.
there are no trackers, cookies or ads placed on this site, with the exception of my shitty analytics thing i made myself (shares no more information than i already have from the web server logs).

there are many easter eggs on this website, most of which are hinted at via splash text (you can click the splash to refresh it). explore and find them :3 (or just cheat i wont judge).
